Wednesday assembly saw the year 7 students treated to a presentation by local organisation DEMAND. The assembly began with a cheque presentation to Denise Gillie from DEMAND for £110 which was raised at the end of the summer term with a cake sale. The year 10 catering group produced many of the cakes on sale and this was a fantastic fundraise for the organisation.
DEMAND are a charity based in Abbots Langley who design and make equipment to make the lives ofdisabled people easier. Denise showed the year 7 students a range of equipment that has been made by the charity, amongst which was a London bus designed to carry the oxygen canister of a young boy, ski’s which have been pioneered to allow wheelchair bound people the opportunity to stand up and ski, and finally a boccia ramp which some of our physically impaired students have benefitted from in the past.
Denise also invited students from Bushey Meads to enter a competition designing a poster to promote the work of DEMAND around the country. Please see poster competition post for details.
