Executive Principal’s Blog – 26 May 2017 – What do you see?

After the events of this week in Manchester we can sometimes look around with a feeling of dismay; in the confusion that sometimes seems to afflict the world today, we see disrespect for the very values of life. As we reminded ourselves this morning in our staff meeting, beauty is actually all around us, but unfortunately some seem to see nothing.

We all know that time is precious and each second we live is a new and unique moment; a moment that will never be again and this inspires the very best teachers to teach, not only the facts related to their subject areas, but more importantly, who our children are and what they can become.

This week I have been inspired by some of the new Year 6 students we have talked to in our Year 6 induction interviews, conducted by members of our Leadership and Pastoral Teams – students aspiring to become marine biologists, talented in the arts and sporting arenas, even those who already speak two languages fluently!

The Young Musician of the Year event, organised by our fantastic music teacher Miss Craven on Thursday evening, again highlighted some outstanding talent already in our school.

This was complemented by seeing Head Boy Max and Head Girl Emily presenting so eloquently at the Full Governors Meeting on Wednesday evening, poised as they are to take up university places at one of the country’s top institutions of learning.

It has been a very busy, but hugely productive half term, so do make sure you take some time (in amongst the ongoing revision, if you are in Year 11 or the Sixth Form) to re-charge your batteries and enjoy a good rest over the half term period.
