Executive Principal’s Blog – 22 January 2016


As parents and carers I am sure you are aware of our clear school Strategic Commitment Purpose and Intent which reminds us of our core purpose to ensure that all our students Aspire to Achieve. With that in mind it has been really pleasing to see so many keen and enthusiastic Year 11 students attend the well organised and very powerful Maths intervention sessions on Tuesday lunchtime; some of our top A level Mathematicians are coaching and mentoring the Year 11 students, overseen by our talented and dedicated Maths faculty team.

In addition, on Wednesday lunchtimes we have now held two of our weekly ‘dedicated Year 11 sessions’ in LRC3 – effectively supported by our very experienced Learning Resource Centre Manager Mr Back and it was great to see again a good core of Year 11 students engage in purposeful study to ensure they hit their target grades on August 25th of this year.

If you are a Year 11 parent and carer do encourage your child to go the extra mile with their learning and make the most of all the opportunities on offer at BMS in the run up to their all-important GCSE examinations. With 65 school days to go, watch out for the targeted revision sessions, planned for after school and during the February and Easter holidays, and the crucial Study Saturday’s in the LRC that we intend to arrange to ensure that all our students do reach their true potential this August.

Another highlight of the week was the fantastic House Art and Photography Exhibition; I would like to congratulate all the students and staff who entered and for those who received some of the prestigious prizes. Your work was inspiring.

Finally don’t forget that we are currently looking for interested parents to nominate themselves for the important role of being a Parent Governor and further details are available again in this week’s newsletter.
