Executive Principal’s Blog – 18 March 2016

With the last day of a really busy term in our sights next Wednesday it reminds us that end of terms are often times to say goodbye to staff who are moving on to pastures new. This term we are bidding a very fond farewell to Ms Morawska our outstanding Deputy Headteacher who has been such an exemplary leader in the school for nearly a decade.

I myself have had the real privilege of working alongside her for 2 years now and can honestly say that I haven’t worked with such a hardworking and committed Deputy Headteacher with so much experience as her. I know she will be sorely missed by so many staff, students, parents, governors and trustees and she will leave a large hole in the heart of Bushey Meads.

Her superb leadership of the teaching and learning and staff professional development agendas has left the school in a very strong position, poised to move towards outstanding; her legacy will be remembered for many years to come.

As she relocates to Kent and takes up a very exciting senior leadership position at The Hastings Academy – a brand new school within an innovative and forward thinking academy trust of nine schools, we do wish her all the very best for this new chapter in her life. Without a doubt she will continue to transform the lives of many young people and effectively shape another learning community.

Success at BMS continues to be achieved at the highest level and this week we were delighted to hear that our talented Year 10 rugby team have been crowned as County Champions! Winning the county final which took place on Wednesday afternoon at Old Albanians Rugby Club in St Albans was a tremendous success and has made our whole school community immensely proud.

On that very positive note I wish you all a very happy Easter holiday. If you are a Year 11 or Sixth Form student do make the most of all the revision sessions on offer over the next few weeks, as well as the time at home to really push towards those top grades that you know you are capable of.
