Executive Principal’s Blog – 12 December 2014

With so many exemplary activities taking place at Bushey Meads School it is no surprise to hear that the work that staff and students are doing is being recognised at the very highest level.

Earlier this week at the Hertfordshire Service to Sport Awards Evening hosted by Sky Sports presenter David Croft and three times Olympic athlete David Moorcroft, from seven worthy nominations for the Paul Pierce Award for Contribution to Disability Sport it was absolutely fantastic to hear that Nicky Day and all the BASE Staff won this prestigious award. Each and every day our BASE staff go the extra mile and it was truly fitting for them to receive this wonderful honour.

In addition, the success of our school Debating Team continued this week with them being awarded a huge silver trophy in recognition of their achievement in winning the Watford Inter School Debating Competition 2014, taking place at The House of Commons and chaired by the MP Richard Harrington. Achieved against stiff competition from some of the highly selective schools in the area, this was indeed a fantastic accolade and a huge vote of thanks goes to Elaine Pinkus and Sue Lawrence for the leadership and support of our superb Debating Team.
